If you want to know the best spots that the locals enjoy, then check out this book. If you want to get the most out of your visit, then I recommend this book. Written through the author's voice, you'll feel like you're getting your own personal tour guide. This book is more than a generic listing of things to see and do.
• Love this book. I actually met the leader of one of the jazz bands mentioned here and she wasn't aware she was mentioned, but was tickled pink when I told her. Seeing them perform on the street was definitely a highlight and this book is filled with such gems. Definitely an easy way to maximize your trip to New Orleans.
• I've been to NOLA many, many times. I got this book to see if I might have missed something as it was free. It's a good place to start for anyone who's not been before. While pretty basic, it covers the high points with some good ideas of what to see and when. If you have not been before, this book will be helpful to you. If you have been before, you'll want to look for something a little more in depth. It was well written and presented in a easy to follow and understand format.

As someone that is considering a visit to New Orleans, I found the book very detailed about the major places to visit organized by places to eat, hotels, etc. It strictly focuses on the French Quarter so if you are looking for other areas of the city, you might be disappointed.

Bievenu gives amazing descriptions to breath life into not yet seen places and many different options for every type of traveler! This is a must read before venturing into the cresent city and i am sure i will be referring to it the whole trip!
